China-inspired Handmade Quilts

2010  Flow Blue is unique among all of Frances’ handmade quilts. The color palette and center medallion design were inspired by Flow Blue china. This pattern was a large collection of small squares & triangles sewn together to create multiple borders that work their way in to highlight the center block of one solid piece. A lot of mathematical figuring went into this design to make sure the corners came out equal. It was machine-pieced with hand-stitched quilting on top.

Flow Blue was an award winner at the Vermont Quilt Festival.
