A Passion for Heirloom Quilts

Frances Abell Brand was destined to be a remarkable quilter. Born in Milton, Massachusetts in 1913, she possessed the genes for discipline, vision and invention. Several of her most outstanding quilts have their place within the permanent collections of both the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky and the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts. These handmade heirloom quilts were inspired by her passion for traditional designs, rural country settings and early American decorative styles and techniques. Her work demonstrates unique applications of their influences.
