Farm and Country Quilts
2009 Chanticleer IV is another example of one of Frances’ country quilts illustrating again her fondness of poultry. The fabrics used were carefully chosen to represent feathers (see close up detail of the rooster’s tail feathers). This Booted Bearded Mille Fleur Male was from a collection of Maggie Walker designs. Frances did the writing herself using an archival inked pigma pen. The quilting done is a chicken wire design, which can be clearly seen in the detail photo.
